Course Description

Radiation protection is “effective measures employed by radiation workers to safeguard patients, personnel, and the general public from unnecessary exposure to ionizing radiation.” This X-Ray Lady course based on the 9th edition of Radiation Protection in Medical Radiography discusses the many components that involve radiation protection: cellular biology, radiation characteristics and effects, dose measurement and limits, equipment design, and management of patient and staff dose during radiologic procedures. The course also includes radiation protection applications in computed tomography, breast imaging, and nuclear imaging.

This course is based on the book Radiation Protection in Medical Radiography, 9th edition, by Statkiewicz Sherer, Visconti, Ritenour, and Haynes (ISBN 978-0-323-82503-0). The book is 340 pages long and 9.5 x 11.5 inches in size.

The test has 146 multiple choice and true/false questions.

This course is only approved for Florida BMO or CRT state license holders. This course will not be renewed. You must submit your test BY 11:59 pm Eastern Time on 01/31/2025 with a score of 75% or better to receive credit for the course.
