Course Description

The discovery of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has become one of the most important imaging modalities in modern medicine. One of the greatest advantages of MRI is that unlike other imaging modalities such as radiography and computed tomography is does not deliver a radiation dose to the patient. MRI is credited with its ability to produce superior images of soft tissue and the ability to generate various anatomical contrast levels with adjustment to the acquisition parameters. The goal of this course is to present the fundamental concepts of the physics of MRI.

This course is based on chapter 14 the publication Diagnostic Radiology Physics A Handbook for Teachers and Students, by the International Atomic Energy Agency (ISBN: 978-92-13010-1). Chapter 14 is 25 pages long.
