Purchasing a Test Only means that you will only receive the test. All tests correlate directly with the reading materials for the CE course. You must complete the test that is sent to you; no previous versions (ie, longer/shorter) of any test will be accepted for CE credit.   It is the customer’s responsibility to make sure you have the correct reading material to complete the test. X-Ray Lady is not responsible for the failure of a test when trying to complete a course without any or incorrect reading material. No refunds, exchanges, or store credits are issued after failing all three attempts allowed for the course.

Courses in the Training Package

The courses may be completed in any order, as many at once as desired, and at any time. Please note that if sitting for the ARRT® examination, you have two years from the completion of all eligibility requirements to sit for the examination.

A suggested order of completion is as follows:

  1. Breast Anatomy and Pathology in Mammography (8 CE)
  2. Introduction to Digital Mammography (8 CE)
  3. Breast Implants & Quality Assurance in Mammography (8.5 CE)
  4. Introduction to Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, 2nd Edition (3.5 CE)
  5. Introduction to Breast Tomosynthesis, Breast Density, and Breast Cancer Risk (14.5 CE)
  6. Note: In addition to completing 40 hours of education, MQSA requirements state that you must complete 25 hands-on mammography exams under the direct supervision of a qualified instructor. Please see our Mammography Certification Information & Checklist.

ARRT® Post-Primary Certification

We do not recommend any CE course specifically for the purpose of ARRT® test prep, nor does the ARRT® endorse any specific material for the purpose of studying for any specific test. Purchase and/or completion of this package, or any other test preparation materials regardless of the author, does not guarantee the subsequent passing of the registry exam. The ARRT® has published the mammography content specifications, which gives a detailed outline of the covered topics and procedures, as guidance for the exam. Registrants are encouraged to consult this outline as well as a variety of sources to adequately prepare for the test. In addition to the MQSA requirements, the ARRT® has additional requirements to establish eligibility for the exam. Please see our Mammography Certification Information & Checklist.

Course Description

Breast Anatomy and Pathology

Breast Anatomy and Pathology

Knowledge of breast anatomy is fundamental to a mammographer’s skill set and important in creating quality mammographic projections. Written as an introductory course to breast anatomy and mammography, this course provides the radiographer with a review of both male and female breast anatomy; basic mammographic concepts such as patient communication, compression, localization of breast lesions, and reporting terminology; and a review of benign, malignant, and high risk breast conditions and pathologic correlations. This course is directly applicable towards the initial 40 total hours of training in mammography required by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and covers breast anatomy and physiology.

This course is based on a printed and bound reference created by Rachel Gruber, B.S. This course has a corresponding posttest containing 64 multiple choice and true/false questions.

Introduction to Digital Mammography

Introduction to Digital Mammography

Digitization in medicine brought about massive changes in efficiency, workflow, and image quality. Perhaps these changes are no more evident and important than in mammography. Digital mammography, now the gold standard in breast cancer screening and detection, offers many advantages compared to screen-film mammography, including the ability to manipulate images, improved and more efficient workflow, and less time required to complete an examination. This course examines the development and features of digital mammography as a screening modality. It also discusses digital mammography equipment, the characteristics of a digital image, image artifacts, networking in digital mammography, digital mammography quality control procedures, and critical studies in the development and advancement of digital mammography.

This course is based on a printed and bound reference created by Rachel Gruber.  This course has a corresponding posttest containing 64 multiple choice and true/false questions.

Breast Implants and Quality Assurance in Mammography

Breast Implants and Quality Assurance in Mammography

Whether for augmentation or reconstruction after breast cancer surgery, the mammographer will undoubtedly encounter women in her daily practice who present for mammography and have breast implants. Women with breast implants require additional screening views and encounter various types of complications unique to their implants. This course provides an overview of the regulatory history and types of breast implants approved for use in the United States, surgical procedures used for implantation, and common complications and adverse effects related to breast implants as well quality control principles, another important aspect of breast imaging and a critical step in ensuring quality images and patient care. This course addresses specifically two topics, breast implants and quality assurance/control, mandated by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) for initial training in mammography.

This course is based on a printed and bound reference created by Jeana Fleitz, M.Ed., RT(R)(M). This course has a corresponding posttest containing 68 multiple choice and true/false questions.

Introduction to Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, 2nd Edtion

Introduction to Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, 2nd Edtion

Stereotactic breast biopsy is an important tool to detect and diagnose breast cancer early. Stereotactic procedures use three images to triangulate lesions under mammographic guidance for sampling and tissue diagnosis. This course outlines essential principles such as localization and positioning, challenges in stereotactic biopsies, and quality assurance and quality control.

This course is based on a printed and bound reference by Rachel Gruber. This course has an accompanying posttest with 24 multiple choice and true/false questions.

Introduction to Breast Tomosynthesis, Breast Density, and Breast Cancer Risk

Introduction to Breast Tomosynthesis, Breast Density, and Breast Cancer Risk

This course provides an introduction to Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) including its development and acceptance across the country, the history and clinical significance of DBT, an overview of system design, implications and advantages of DBT, and the mammographer’s role in breast tomosynthesis examinations. The advent of breast tomosynthesis is accompanied by increased awareness and regulations regarding breast density, especially in regards to patient notification, screening procedures, and further diagnostic tests. This course gives an all-encompassing view at the breast cancer screening process and highlights essential elements of high quality screening procedures, breast cancer risks, diagnostic testing, treatment navigation, and breast cancer survivorship.

The content of this course is based on the Hologic Selenia Dimensions® DBT system and is sufficient to meet the 8 hours of new modality training and continuing education specific to the Hologic Selenia Dimensions® DBT system.

This course is based on a printed and bound reference created by Jeana Fleitz, M.Ed., RT(R)(M).  This course has a corresponding posttest containing 120 multiple choice and true/false questions.
