Imaging Obesity

Since the mid-seventies, the prevalence of overweight
and obesity has increases sharply for both adults
and children. Obesity not only leads to numerous
health problems, it can also limit the imaging
equipment used to diagnose those problems. The
purpose of this course is to provide information
about this epidemic problem in the United States
and to highlight concerns related to obtaining
diagnostic quality images of overweight and obese
patients. The reference contains four parts: Part
I: Overweight and Obesity; Part II: Imaging Obesity;
Part III: Imaging Modalities and Specific Issues
Related to Obesity; and, Part IV: Responsibility
for Radiological Procedures and Radiation Protection.
The course includes a 130-page reference with
a posttest containing 70 multiple-choice questions.
This course applies to radiologic technologists
(RTs) and limited radiographers.
