Imaging Drug Abuse Course Description

Humans have used drugs of one sort or another for thousands of years however the problems of addiction have significant impacts on the health and well being of the abuser. Recreational drug abuse is increasing throughout the world and imaging personnel may eventually see users. The major goal of this course is to acquaint radiographers with the variety of drugs that are currently abused, the effects of these drugs and medical consequences. The imaging modalities used in the diagnosis and treatment of those who abuse drugs are included as appropriate for the medical condition.

The course contains 3 parts. Part 1 Introduction to Imaging Drug Abuse is a word document that will be sent to you via email. Part 2 and Part 3 are based on web-based documents. You will be sent directions with a link to access the reading references. This course posttest has 50 multiple-choice questions. This course applies to all radiographers, radiologic technologists (RTs) and limited radiographers.
